Other Family Recreation Opportunities in Vermont

Vermont Outdoor Guide Association’s 180 companies offer guided activities, educational opportunities and family and youth programs. Snowmobiling, skiing and ice climbing, snow kiting, Nordic skating, hot air ballooning and sky cruising in Ultralight aircraft are just the tip of the iceberg. VOGA’s outdoor education network’s women’s’ division alone offers between 50 and 75 women’s programs each year. (See www.voga.org)

For sheer amusement, Bromley’s “Thrill Zone” is hard to beat, offering an Alpine Slide, Water Slide, a rock climbing wall, cable slide and more. Vermont’s colonial heritage means that antiquing is a favorite activity throughout the state. Many quaint shops offer bargains on “that perfect piece”. Any time of the year is prime for poking around. Just log in at a B&B and head out.

Don’t forget farm programs. Near Bennington, the Adams Family Farm offers instructional activities, which bring you right into early New England farm life
